It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the 6th month of the year. The old cliché “Time flies when you’re having fun” certainly applies to the last six months. We’ve witnessed some terrific events in our auditorium, including Our ANZAC Day Celebrations, Travel Talk’s, Hawaiian Night, the introduction of the Villa draw on Friday night, numerous fund-raising events and raffles not forgetting Trivia, and Mother’s Day, the list goes on.
Of course, this would not be happening without our dedicated volunteer members of the social committee, headed by Kay Wilson. “THANK YOU, LADIES”.
There are still lots of events to look forward to, like the Masquerade Ball, Christmas in July, and “The Big Morning Tea” to support the Cancer Councils fund raising. So, keep your eyes on the GemLife Residents Page on Facebook, to stay abreast of all the events, including the sporting options available for you. | ![]() |
![]() | The trial Gym Timetable has been published on both the Facebook page and the Website. The trial started Monday 25 May. The gym is a shared facility for all residents and, as our community continues to grow, demand for the space has increased significantly. Following discussions between the Gym Team, GLGC’s HOC, and Dan Smith, GemLife’s CEO of Communities, a timetable has been developed to promote fair and equitable access for all residents. This timetable will operate as an 8-week trial and will be discussed with residents at the next Residents’ Forum, scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, 25 July 2026. All regular Fitness Classes that are advertised on our Facebook page will still be available. |
![]() | The poker players will be pleased to know that approval to purchase a cloth poker tabletop to use on the board room table has been granted. |
The long-awaited Defibrillator has been installed on the top floor adjacent to the sky bar entry. Hopefully we don’t have to use it. | ![]() |
![]() | There is now an urn located near the coffee machine. Instant coffee and teas are available free. Please leave the urn on to keep the water warm until you need a cuppa, then just turn it up to heat the water. Patience is required as it takes a minute or two to get to the required temp. REMINDER please put dirty cups back on the trolley, thank you. |
The HOC has been discussing issues raised by some of our residents some of which follow.
Bent road sign on Yellow Beryl. Reported to Tony 17/5
Fire ants’ nests next to 207. Reported to Tony 17/5
Still waiting for revised plans for Pavilion. Advised by Jane they would be available 13/05
Pathway lights not working between Ruby and Gemstone. Solar was suggested. Tony is following up.
Twenty plus residents without name badges. 3 emails sent to Ashleigh sales with no reply.
A cover for the roof over the top of the alfresco area so the BBQ and seating can be used in all weather.
The front gate is being left open overnight due to overgrown bushes. Advised Tony and they have been trimmed.
Tradies still speeding on residential streets. It stopped for about a week and now back to speeding again.
Since the carpets were cleaned there has been a musty odour in those areas that were cleaned, we have asked to have the doors opened to air the Auditorium for a few days. The damp weather hasn’t allowed the carpet to dry out fully.
Once these issues have been resolved residents will be advised.
It has recently been reported to the HOC that there have been instances where visitors have been seen without their visitor tags being displayed. It is the responsibility of the resident to ensure their guests wear the tags when on the premises. If your visitor is injured there may not be any insurance cover if they’re not wearing the tag.
Further to this, residents are reminded that there are age limits that apply to the use of the park facilities. These rules are located in your park rules information, and on the website, and are to be adhered to. Please note these age limits which vary from facility to facility.
